The 6th AVDC will be held in Nanjing, China, from June 14–16, 2025. As the largest and most influential event of its kind in Asia, the conference remains committed to its founding mission: “Robust veterinary diagnostics to enhance animal health and food safety.”
This year’s edition will gather leading experts and industry leaders from around the world to share and discuss the latest technologies and practices in animal disease prevention and diagnosis. A key focus will be the Pre-Conference Workshop on Swine Disease Diagnosis, set to take place on the opening day, which will spotlight technological innovations, epidemiological insights, and control strategies aimed at ensuring the healthy and sustainable development of the global swine industry.
Swine diseases such as African Swine Fever (ASF), Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome (PRRS), and Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED) remain the most pressing threats to the global pig farming sector, causing significant economic losses and challenging meat supply chain security. Efficient and accurate diagnostics serve as the first line of defense.
This highly anticipated workshop will feature renowned scholars from institutions such as Iowa State University (USA), Vietnam National University of Agriculture, the Agricultural Genomics Institute at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Nanjing Agricultural University, Huazhong Agricultural University, and Yangzhou University. Topics will span genetic sequencing, immunological diagnostics, laboratory data integration, and gene-edited disease-resistant breeding. This comprehensive exchange will showcase cutting-edge breakthroughs and practical case studies that aim to help the industry tackle disease challenges.
Key Highlights:
Global Perspective
-
Prof. Jianqiang Zhang (Iowa State University) will present genetic classification and spatial-temporal distribution patterns of PRRSV-1 to support vaccine development.
-
Dr. Le Van Phan (Vietnam National University of Agriculture) will share regional ASF control experiences and vaccine research progress.
Technological Innovation
-
Dr. Giovani Trevisan will demonstrate how Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) improves disease monitoring efficiency in U.S. pig farms.
-
Prof. Wentao Li’s team will present breakthroughs in PED diagnostic technologies.
Interdisciplinary Integration
-
From Prof. Jianzhong Zhu’s work on immunological diagnostics to Dr. Kui Li’s research on gene-edited pigs resistant to PRRS, science is driving a shift from passive response to proactive prevention
